Farm & Environment

Topography

The farm is located on sloping land, most of it south-facing. Fields are easily accessible and laid out to minimize unnecessary movement and handling. But the area is not the best farming land you could think of but we make it work.

Soil Type

We farm on cambisoils that have moderate profile and we try to improve organic matter by applying compost and cover crops. Our land used to be farmed until 1960s where it was decided it is no longer viable for crop production and grass was seeded. It was then grazed from 1960s-2020s so when we broke ground, we found out suprisingly good soil that has not been damanged and drained by conventional agriculture methods.

Owner Profile

Profile

The farm is run by its founders, who come from creative, non-agricultural backgrounds — one studied music production, the other interior architecture. Both have always felt a strong connection to nature, landscape, and hands-on work. When they discovered market gardening, their previous experience, values, and skills naturally came together. Running the farm requires a high level of creativity as well as strong systems, planning, and daily repeatability, which form the foundation of a productive and economically viable small-scale farm.

Past Experience

We are graduates of Farm School (higher education practical farming school).

Skills & Expertise

Key skills include crop planning, production management, labor organization, direct sales (CSA) and customer care, and overall farm economics. Alongside vegetable production, the farm also focuses on cut-flower production and educational activities. Seasonal workers and students support the farm during the growing season, contributing to daily fieldwork, harvest, and packing, while gaining hands-on experience in a real small-scale farm operation.

Personal Motivations

The primary motivation is to create a financially viable small farm that regenerates soil, produces high-quality food and contributes to local food systems and at the same time allows us to have a good life. Education and transparency are our main values. We want to show that the market gardening system is viable even in central/eastern Europe and our goal is to create a blueprint farm that others can copy.
